This event featured a guest appearance by the "Drift King" himself, Keiichi Tsuchiya, a charismatic figure in the full-scale drift world who currently manages Drift Kingdom.
Representing Yokomo this time, Masami Hirosaka and Tetsuhiro Kawakami assisted with the judging, talk shows, booth exhibits, and more.
The competition was divided into two classes: "Twin" and "Triple or More," with a total of 90 entries. The first-floor pit area and the second-floor circuit area were constantly packed and full of excitement.
In the "First Attempt at RC Drifting" segment, Mr. Tsuchiya managed to complete two laps in no time at all, despite just having learned the transmitter controls. Seeing that, one could only say "as expected" of him as he received a huge round of applause from those around him.
Mr. Tsuchiya commented, "Next time, I'd like to see some serious tandem drifting. It would also be interesting to have unique track layouts, like a mountain-pass style course with elevation changes, or one that features three different road surfaces in a single lap." It seemed he developed a genuine interest in RC, raising expectations for the next event.
