We held the "1st YOKOMO 2WD Touring Car All-Japan Championship 2017 Regional Qualifier" using the YD-2TC, which has been steadily gaining popularity! It was held concurrently with the Tamiya Challenge on May 7th, with 9 participants. The qualifying format consisted of two 10-minute rounds based on the single best lap time (next month will feature lap racing, alternating between best lap and total laps), and the final was a 10-minute lap race. The regulations allowed for non-Yokomo bodies in the YD-2TC scale class, and the tire RPM was limited to 3400 rpm or less to suit the track size.
In qualifying, Kitaya took pole position with a 13.747, followed by 2nd place Matsui at 13.783, 3rd place Kozuka at 13.945, 4th place Misawa at 14.086, 5th place Sakai at 14.171, 6th place Tanimoto, 7th place Store Manager, 8th place Cho, and 9th place Morigami.
The final was a 10-minute lap race with all participants. Following the confusion immediately after the start, Matsui and Kozuka pulled ahead, with Kitaya and Misawa in pursuit. The battle for 5th place in the middle stages involved Cho, Tanimoto, and the Store Manager, but this didn't last long, and towards the end, Kitaya fell back due to mechanical trouble. Meanwhile, Matsui pulled away to win, becoming the champion of the commemorative 1st YOKOMO 2WD Touring Car All-Japan Championship Regional Qualifier.
