We held the YOKOMO Drift Challenge at TamTam Chiba, located in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture. We have held this event at this circuit every year since the Drift Challenge first began, and the level of the participating drivers has been increasing year by year.
This year, the number of participants increased significantly compared to last year, with 6 drivers in the Sports Class, 7 in the Expert Class, and the RWD class—which was added this year—boasting 9 participants, the largest of the three classes.
The course featured a high-grip carpet surface and a very high-speed layout where, after exiting the S-curve, drivers had to immediately initiate a drift, hit the throttle, and swing the car out toward the outer edge.
Since this year, the YOKOMO Drift Challenge has relaunched with the theme of being an "event for learning." As with the previous Shiga round, Yokomo staff provided driving and setup advice during judging and free practice sessions. The participants' skills improved with every run, leading to high-level battles across all classes in the finals.
"Nikudori Kimeru," a familiar face from RC Magazine, also made a surprise entry with a new YD-2 car!!! They really energized the venue.
