With more participants joining from the afternoon onwards, the excitement only grew. Furthermore, the super-famous driver "Socho☆Chinpirano" participated in the event as a regular entrant, taking the time to further refine the setup of his personal YD-2SX.
This Skill-Up Support session saw a high number of participants who had started within the last month or were even trying it out for the very first time. Many of these attendees were using the new "YD-2E" model, which offers enhanced operability for the YD-2 platform.

During the lunch break, we also held a "Free RC Experience Session" for the general public.
Since SHIFT is located within a shopping center, we had a wide range of people from children to adults come to try driving.
The machines used for the experience sessions were perfect for beginners!
"Drift Racer with Gyro"
The event ran for quite a long time, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, but everyone participated seriously until the very end, making it a highly rewarding event. We are planning to hold another event here next year and look forward to seeing you all again.
PICK UP Support
In this "PICK UP Support" section, we share the most common concerns raised by participants and the solutions we implemented. Since there were so many beginners this time, we will focus on those topics.
・I keep spinning out immediately; the controls are difficult.
↑ We felt this was a very common concern.
Solution
・Adjust the Ackermann angle to one that is more resistant to spinning even under angle.
・Set the front toe-out to create a more understeer-leaning steering characteristic.
First, the Ackermann setting shown here is the standard YD-2E setup, which is an all-around configuration suitable for beginners to advanced users. Since this setting is not specialized for beginners, it can sometimes lead to spin-outs when drifting at deep angles.
Therefore, as shown here, move the wiper attachment point from the standard kit hole to the forward-most hole.
At the same time as changing the wiper hole position, set the front toe to out, creating a more mild characteristic by shifting initial steering toward understeer. Furthermore, setting it to toe-out helps reduce hunting and allows for a higher gyro gain, making the car much easier to drive. Finally, check the Ackermann; compared to the kit standard, it is now closer to a parallel setup.
This makes it possible to create machine characteristics that are much less prone to spinning.
Since this Ackermann setting produces similar characteristics not only at SHIFT but on other surfaces as well, we highly recommend that those who have just started RWD drifting give it a try.
