K2 Circuit YD-2 TC Scale Class Round 2 Event Report!

On Sunday, April 1, 2018, the second round of the YOKOMO YD-2TC Scale Class series was held at the K2 Circuit in Higashiomi City, Shiga Prefecture. We have received a report from the event organizers, Rajikon-ya, which we have posted below.

For this YD-2TC Scale Class event, 17 drivers participated—including Yoshioka-senshu from Yokomo—while 8 participated in the F3000 class.

The YD-2TC Scale Class serves as a qualifying round for the YOKOMO 2WD Touring Car All Japan Championship, featuring the popular YD-2 TC, which offers moderate speeds and fresh handling characteristics.

The race format consisted of two 5-minute qualifying rounds and a 10-minute main final.

Regulations for the YD-2TC Scale Class allow for the use of scale bodies from other manufacturers (excluding bodies like the Raikiri GT), and tire rotation speed is limited to 2900 rpm or less (at a stabilized 7.2V) depending on the course size.

In qualifying, Matsui-senshu took the pole position with 22 laps in 5:05.053.
2nd place was Tanaka L-senshu with 22 laps in 5:07.752, followed by 3rd Tanaka GL-senshu, 4th Nomoto-senshu, 5th Tencho (Store Manager), and 6th Yokomo's Yoshioka-senshu.

The B-Main included 7th Sakai-senshu, 8th Tanimoto-senshu, 9th Sawai-senshu, 10th Ikeda-senshu, 11th Ichida-senshu, and 12th Maeda Jr.-senshu.

The C-Main included 13th Maeda Papa-senshu, 14th Kozuka-senshu, 15th Takayama-senshu, 16th Misawa-senshu, and 17th Uratani-senshu.

Final C-Main
Kozuka-senshu, winner of the previous round, claimed a dignified victory, with the recovered Misawa-senshu taking 2nd. The results were: 1st Kozuka-senshu, 2nd Misawa-senshu, 3rd Takayama-senshu, 4th Maeda Papa-senshu, and 5th Uratani-senshu, with Kozuka-senshu advancing to the next main.

Final B-Main
This became a head-to-head battle between pole-sitter Sakai-senshu and Tanimoto-senshu, remaining tail-to-nose until the middle stages. The results were: 1st Sakai-senshu, 2nd Tanimoto-senshu, 3rd Sawai-senshu, 4th Kozuka-senshu, 5th Ikeda-senshu, 6th Ichida-senshu, and 7th Maeda Jr.-senshu, with Sakai-senshu advancing to the next main.

Final A-Main
Just after the start on the second lap, Tanaka L-senshu went off-track, followed by Yoshioka-senshu on the fourth lap. In the early stages, Nomoto-senshu, Tencho, Tanaka L-senshu, and Tanaka GL-senshu continued to drive steadily in that order. Even in the middle stages, the battle between Tanaka L and Tanaka GL remained a chaotic struggle. The battle for the lead saw Tencho catch up to Nomoto-senshu; despite fierce competition, the race remained deadlocked.

Late in the race, Tanaka L and Tanaka GL, who had been competing fiercely, had a regrettable collision. Yoshioka-senshu took advantage of the gap to climb the rankings and aim for the lead, but Nomoto-senshu held on to win.

The final results were: 1st Nomoto-senshu, 2nd Yoshioka-senshu, 3rd Tanaka L-senshu, 4th Tanaka GL-senshu, 5th Sakai-senshu, 6th Matsui-senshu, and 7th Tencho.

Thank you very much to everyone who participated. Next month's race will be held on May 6th.

We look forward to seeing many participants.
