Yokomo Drift Meeting Round-109 Event Report!

We held the Yokomo Drift Meeting Round-109 at Yatabe Arena over two days, June 29th and 30th. With over 300 entries across the two days, this was the largest event attendance for a standard round in recent years. Furthermore, this was a truly international round, with 16 entries from five countries outside of Japan (Malaysia, Singapore, USA, South Korea, and Hong Kong). As it was the start of the rainy season, it rained on both days, resulting in extremely high humidity and challenging track conditions that changed moment by moment.

The layout was highly technical, requiring drivers to quickly transition and accelerate right out of the corner before initiating a sudden drift. Given that it was one of the most difficult layouts we have seen lately, we anticipated that scores might remain low. However, because this was the same layout used for the Try Drift Meeting held at Yatabe Arena since this year, the drivers had plenty of time to practice. Contrary to our expectations, we saw a super high-level qualifying and final round, with scores over 100 points achieved one after another. In particular, the Day 2 RWD Expert Class final was incredibly impressive, with all three podium finishers putting on a performance that scored over 100 points, greatly exciting the crowd. Furthermore, Takujin, competing in the AWD D1 class, finally scored 105 points, the first perfect score in Yokodori history. The participants gave the driver a massive round of applause for this achievement.
