Drift Meeting Round-82 in Aichi Event Report

ドリフトミーティング Round-82 in 愛知 イベントレポート

We held the Yokomo Drift Meeting Round 82 at Hobby Shop TamTam Nagoya in Kitanagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. In addition to the two regular categories—the Expert Class (judged by single runs) and the D1 Class (judged by tandem tournaments)—we also included an RWD class.

The Expert Class consisted of four single-run qualifying rounds and two single-run final rounds, with the top three finishers earning the right to promote to the D1 Class. In the qualifiers, driver Numatch initially secured the provisional lead with a high score of over 90 points. However, Team Yokomo's Yusuke outperformed that with an even higher score to take the lead. The final qualifying standings were Yusuke, Numatch, and Mak. In the finals, Numatch and Yusuke tied for their best point totals, but Yusuke took the victory based on a tie-breaker using their second-best scores.

The highly anticipated D1 Class qualifiers saw a high-level battle with the top drivers scoring over 90 points. Among them, Team Yokomo's Shunsuke produced an outstanding performance, posting a high score that overwhelmed the competition to take first place in the qualifiers. Taking second was local Aichi driver Shicchan, and third was Hikari from Team RAUR, who traveled from Chiba Prefecture.
The finals saw upsets among the top qualifiers, with Shicchan and Hikari both making mistakes during tandem runs and being eliminated in the first round. The semifinals saw a match between Papara (from Ibaraki Prefecture) and Eloten (from Gifu Prefecture). In the second sudden-death round, Papara made a slight error, allowing Eloten to advance to the final championship match. The final match pitted Team Yokomo's Shunsuke against Eloten, and with a display of stable tandem drifting, Shunsuke defeated Eloten to take the championship.

For the first time at a regional Yokomo Drift Meeting, an RWD class was established, where RWD drivers engaged in heated tandem drifting. In the qualifiers, Team Yokomo's Shunsuke, Raikkonen-bucho, Team RAUR's Hikari, and local Aichi driver TAO posted high scores with single-run drifts that overwhelmed the other participants.
The finals were held as an 8-person tandem tournament. In the semifinals, Shunsuke and TAO faced off in a match where both drove without errors, making it hard to determine a winner. After four sudden-death rounds, a slight error by TAO created a score difference, allowing Shunsuke to advance to the final. In the second semifinal match, Hikari competed against Raikkonen-bucho, with the win going to Hikari. The championship match featured Hikari and Shunsuke, where Shunsuke edged out Hikari to secure the win.

The next Yokomo Drift Meeting will be held over two days on Saturday, September 10th, and Sunday, September 11th, moving to the Yatabe Arena in Ibaraki Prefecture. Yokomo's new RWD vehicle, the YZ-2, will be released soon. The RWD class is sure to become even more exciting. We look forward to seeing many participants there.
