Introducing the next-generation chassis for competitive AWD drifting!

　The performance required to deliver a "captivating" run is the ability to maintain control under any circumstances. Whether driving solo near the limit or in a tandem battle where you must adapt to your opponent, keeping the machine under your full control is the key to unlocking even higher levels of performance, says Team Yokomo Drift leader and lead developer, Hayato Matsuzaki! By concentrating heavy components low and in the center of the machine, the chassis achieves quick weight transitions and enhanced drift angle stability, while the drift-specific suspension and steel slide-rack steering system expand the freedom of line tracing.

　The front suspension features high-rigidity H-arms. This expert-preferred setup sharpens steering response and increases the precision of line tracing. While H-arm designs typically suffer from limitations in steering angle or tire interference at full lock compared to I-arms, the YD-4 resolves these issues with dedicated suspension arms and compact hub carriers. It achieves a class-leading maximum steering angle of approximately 55 degrees. 　The steering blocks are a narrow-scrub type, providing neutral steering characteristics. Additionally, the inclusion of a kingpin angle helps produce a realistic drifting image close to that of a full-size car.

　The slide-rack steering system achieves a precise Ackermann ratio even at large steering angles. The rack bar is made of high-precision steel, and eccentric posts supporting the bearings allow for subtle clearance adjustments to minimize wheel shake during steering.

　By concentrating heavy components in the center of the chassis, unnecessary moment of inertia generated during cornering is reduced. While enabling sharp movements when initiating or transitioning drifts, it also maintains drift stability and high controllability. In addition to the short Li-po battery shown in the photos, the battery holder can be repositioned to accommodate standard-size batteries (square or round types).

　While using the same front and rear differential gears common to the Drift Package series, the new gear case design achieves an overall lower center of gravity (approx. 2mm lower than the Drift Package). Although the shock towers are relatively lower, the new body post design allows the rear shocks to be mounted in an upright position. The shock spring cups are also newly designed to be compatible with long springs, realizing a ride that is both sharp and supple.
