　A year has already passed since its sensational World Championship victory, and now, for the 2018 season, the BD8—which could be said to have reached a state of maturity—is set to deliver another shock! With a newly designed main chassis and upper deck that significantly influence the machine's characteristics, we have revamped the rigidity balance that serves as the heart of the car. Furthermore, we have revised the materials for the steering blocks and front/rear hub carriers, substantially reinforcing them to bring out greater machine stability. With basic performance that has already satisfied Ronald Völker through extensive test driving, we have achieved a perfect balance to win in what promises to be an even more intense 2018 season!

SPECIFICATIONS

The front spool features a one-piece molded resin housing and pulley, achieving a significant weight reduction. Reducing the weight of rotating parts lowers the gyro effect and improves maneuverability, resulting in quicker turn-in and more stable behavior during transitions. The axle section is made of highly durable steel and has been polished for smoother operation. An aluminum version (with a resin adapter) is also available as an option, allowing you to choose between the high durability and traction of the steel version or the lightweight, high-maneuverability performance of the aluminum version.

While the shapes of the front and rear hub carriers and steering blocks remain the same as the previous versions, the resin material used has been completely changed, significantly increasing part rigidity. This drastically stabilizes behavior during cornering and improves line-tracing precision. Of course, the increased strength also improves the durability and crash resistance of the parts themselves, resulting in better cost-effectiveness.

We have reviewed the shape of the rear main chassis and the upper deck to alter the rigidity balance. This makes it easier for rear traction to engage when the chassis rolls, enabling more stable driving. Even when using settings aimed at increasing turning performance, the rear is less likely to break loose, allowing for shorter cornering times and contributing to improved and more consistent lap times.

The pillow balls used for the upper arms and steering assembly have been increased in size from the traditional 4.3mm to 4.8mm diameter. This not only makes them more resistant to crashes due to increased durability and rigidity, but test drives have also confirmed that they operate more smoothly even under load during suspension movement, resulting in better traction. For the driver, this is a change that can be felt more than the numerical data suggests.

To optimize battery retention and chassis twist, we have newly designed the battery holder and adopted a style where the strapping tape attaches directly to the chassis. This reduces stress on the chassis caused by fixing the battery and reduces the chance of the battery ejecting during an unexpected crash.

Equipped as standard with a 40T pulley that increases drive efficiency and reduces the load on the belt. The large-diameter pulley offers better roll through corners and reduced sensation of stalling, allowing you to clear corners faster and ultimately increasing top speed. In stock categories, you can also set the belt tension slightly looser, realizing high-efficiency, high-speed driving with reduced drive loss.

The motor mount comes standard in a version compatible with the PCS (Pitching Control System). The optional PCS for BD8 2018 can be easily installed, allowing you to freely adjust pitching rigidity in conjunction with the motor mount's screw-fixing positions.
