The IFMAR ISTC World Championship, organized by IFMAR, held its inaugural event in Japan in 2000, and has since been held regularly every two years.
For the first championship, Yokomo introduced the original MR-4TC (released in February 1999)—a machine featuring a unique design for its time, with a belt-driven 4WD system and a longitudinal battery layout on the side of the chassis, which is now the mainstream configuration for ISTC machines. It went on to become the first-ever World Championship-winning car.
Since then, this design has become the standard for competition touring cars, adopted by many RC car manufacturers around the world to this day. As a pioneer in touring cars, Yokomo has continuously pursued the research and development of these machines.
In recent years, the Yokomo BD7 2015 won at the previous 2014 IFMAR ISTC World Championship in the USA, and the Yokomo BD8 2017 won again in 2016! Yokomo has achieved consecutive victories at the Touring Car World Championship.
The BD8 2017 is the current world-leading touring car kit that our development team confidently recommends. We hope the BD8, which delivers top performance on any track surface thanks to its high adaptability and ease of handling, will help turn your dreams and aspirations into reality.
Yokomo is committed to providing not only parts but also ongoing technical support, including setup advice.
Held in Beijing, China, from August 24 to 27, 2016, the event brought together 150 drivers representing 22 countries, with 17 manufacturer teams participating in what was truly the world's most competitive race. Yokomo entered the new BD8 and secured victory. Out of the top 10 finishers in the data charts, three were Yokomo machines—two BD8s and one BD7. Furthermore, the BD series dominated the top 30, accounting for 12 cars, nearly half the field, proving the high potential of Yokomo's machines.
SPEC Specifications
By increasing the diameter of the front and rear pulleys, rolling efficiency in corners is improved, reducing speed loss and allowing for faster corner exits, which leads to quicker acceleration and higher top speeds. Steering response is shifted slightly toward a milder feel, making the car easier to drive and allowing for rhythmic cornering. This is a key item for improving lap times, as well as increasing average lap speeds through a car that is less prone to errors, helping you achieve better results.
Equipped as standard with the PCS (Pitch Control System), which connects the motor mount and servo mount at the center of the chassis. This increases pitching rigidity without hindering roll, allowing for free control over the flexibility of the main chassis. By maintaining the chassis flex, grip is preserved during cornering, and the increased pitching rigidity efficiently transfers motor power into acceleration, resulting in a dramatic increase in corner exit speed.
The aluminum servo mount, previously an optional part, has been newly designed for the BD8 and is now included as standard in the kit. The design wraps around the belt at the center of the chassis, and the servo is also floating-mounted. This allows the BD8 to perform at its maximum potential without being affected by chassis torsion.
Aluminum steering bellcranks and an aluminum center link are included as standard to improve steering response. As touring car speeds have significantly increased, replicating the movement of the steering servo linearly enhances the control of the machine.
※Photos are for assembly reference. ※The kit does not include a 2-channel radio set (transmitter, receiver, speed controller, servo), Li-po 2-cell battery, charger, motor, tires, wheels, pinion gear, body, or polycarbonate paint. Please purchase these items separately. The kit does not include body, wheels, tires, motor, batteries ,pinion gear, and other R/C electrics.
