Among racing machines that often tend toward uniformity, the Yokomo touring car, known for bringing innovation through highly creative design, evolves into the "BD12." While maintaining the focus on the balance between pitching and rolling, we have achieved a racing design with an even lower center of gravity. With an advanced design that makes conventional standards a thing of the past, it will lead the 2023-24 racing season.
Based on a new motor mount that governs pitching rigidity, chassis roll is controlled by a front-and-rear split upper deck. Coupled with the A.T.F (Active Top Deck Flex) system, it delivers sharp cornering performance. The front and rear shocks have also been shortened, and by installing bearings in the spring holders, the twisting of the springs during shock operation is absorbed, realizing linear movement.
SPECIFICATION
*Photos are for assembly reference only. * The kit does not include a 2-channel radio set (transmitter, receiver, speed controller, servo), battery (Li-po 2-cell), charger, motor, tires/wheels, pinion gear (64 pitch), touring car body, polycarbonate paint, etc. Please purchase these separately. *The kit does not include body, wheels, tires, motor, batteries ,pinion gear, and other R/C electrics.
A major feature of the BD12 is the split front and rear upper deck. It ensures pitching rigidity in balance with the newly designed aluminum motor mount, further promoting a lower center of gravity.
The motor mount is equipped with a graphite plate to further increase pitching rigidity. It also functions as a battery stopper, and a brass version is planned for release as an option.
While the front hub carrier maintains the same alignment as before, it is now shaped to allow the attachment of body stiffeners. This prevents interference between the tires and fenders when downforce is applied, avoiding stalls and other issues.
The main chassis of the BD12 features shallower countersinking than previous models, increasing the thickness around the screws to enhance durability. Additionally, large-diameter spacers for height adjustment of the suspension mounts are used to diffuse stress during crashes and prevent damage to the main chassis.
The spur gear has been redesigned, changing from the previous 110T to 90T. This lowers the center of gravity around the spur gear and motor mount, further promoting an overall lower center of gravity.
Furthermore, the motor position has been moved closer to the chassis center to achieve mass centralization, reducing pitching motion and enhancing stability during acceleration and deceleration.
The damper cap, cylinder, and damper end have been redesigned for a more compact size.
Bearings have been installed in the spring cups to absorb the twisting of the springs during strokes, making it possible to linearly bring out the true performance of the springs.
The front shock tower has additional outer hole positions compared to before, allowing for a setting where the shocks can be positioned more upright.
The rear shock is now mounted horizontally, and adding spacers allows for a wide range of settings.
詳細
- Split upper deck improves pitching rigidity through its connection to the motor mount
- Shock length further shortened, with bearing-equipped spring holders to eliminate twisting
- Front hub carrier body stiffeners prevent body-to-tire interference and increase traction
- Carbon plate installed on the motor mount to enhance pitching rigidity
- Adoption of a 90T spur gear lowers the center of gravity of the drive system; motor also moved forward to achieve mass centralization
- Newly designed front shock tower adds upright shock mounting positions
- New rear shock tower allows for variable adjustment of rear shock angles
- Countersunk holes on the main chassis made shallower to prevent damage around the screws
- Large-diameter suspension mount spacers adopted to prevent main chassis damage during crashes
